Rooted is Committed to 'Green Salon' Initiatives
Making 'Green' Salon Choices Together
The world is changing rapidly and constantly evolving. As a business, we care deeply about our planet - our home. This earth provides us with so much to sustain us, and we care tremendously about our business practices being sustainable in return, out of respect for this beautiful planet. Every little bit helps. When we all do our part and make an effort to take small steps towards 'greener living', together it makes a bigger positive impact.
Making the decision to keep our integrity and values a top priority created space for us to make our business decisions that were based on our values, and nothing less. Knowing that we can make a difference, and therefore our customers are making a difference, really makes our soul happy.
We extend our utmost gratitude to our customers who have chosen to align with our mission and vision to contribute to a better world for all of us.
When considering the best options available for our business, we decided to use 100% recycled materials for our packaging because that was a tangible way that we felt was making a difference right away - by using materials that would otherwise be clogging landfills, our customers can literally hold the positive impact their buying power makes, in their hands.
Implementing “Greener” Salon Practices
There’s no doubt that there is significant waste generated in salons daily. Foils, chemicals, hair, empty bottles, and more. This is just part of providing services. It might even seem a little overwhelming if you’re wanting to reduce the waste in your own salon. Here are a few suggestions to get started - just start with one at a time. You’re taking the right steps, so don’t try to be perfect from the start, just keep taking small steps.
Hair Salon Recycling research:
- Find organizations near you that you can partner with to start making changes.
- Contact your municipal waste management to see what is recyclable and not recyclable.
- There are things you can’t reduce - like hair clippings, but try to find a company that can put them to good use, for example: https://matteroftrust.org/clean-wave-program/
- Empty colour tubes, empty aerosol cans, and used foil from highlights can be recycled - so throw those in the blue box.
- Using refillable packaging as much as possible is an effective way to reduce salon waste. It’s great to align with companies that provide that option. Companies like:

At Rooted, as well as our recycled packaging, we also plant one tree with every purchase. We are very proud of this partnership and the positive impact we aim to have on our environment.
We are always looking for new, efficient and effective ways to make ethical, eco-friendly choices in our business.
